Welcome To the Space Between
A mirror for the messy middle
Welcome, traveler. No, this is not a travel blog. But it is a place of exploration, machetes in hand, carving out new paths for ourselves. The signposts are long gone, the path itself has disappeared. And yet, we’ve never felt more found.
I’m launching The Space Between to explore something central to my work, and maybe yours too: that tender, sometimes disorienting place between an old version of yourself: a self that feels outdated, too small, too shaped by external expectations, and a newer, fully resonant, deeply aligned self that isn’t quite here yet.
You’re in the space between.
This is a space I know intimately. I’ve lived it. I’m still living it.
And I want this to be a place where you feel seen in it too.
Not a Pause, But a Place of Potential
It’s easy to see the space between as just a waiting room. An awkward, uncertain stretch we simply have to survive until clarity finally lands.
But here’s the thing: the space between isn't just transitional. In fact, it’s not transitional at all. It’s a balanced state all on its own, a liminal phase of being neither fully in the old nor fully anchored in the new. (Reference: Rites of Passage by Arnold van Gennep)
If we can learn to sit with the uncertainty, we might find it incredibly fertile and full of potential. It’s in this very place that important seeds take root, that quiet direction begins to emerge. It’s the soft soil from which a more authentic version of who you are and how you work, slowly, steadily comes into being.
When we stop trying to rush past it, we begin to see the space between for what it is: the quiet ground where deep alignment and real creation start to emerge.
Holding the Tension of Opposites
But the space between isn’t just about identity shifts or transitions in time. It also lives in the tension of opposites. Those inner contradictions that don’t cancel each other out, but ask to be held together.
We’re often uncomfortable when we find ourselves between two opposing views. We rush to label things, to neatly categorize ourselves. Be this or that. Pick a lane. Get clear. I've seen this repeatedly in my work, both in my own inner tension and in the work with my clients.
“I’m creative, but also structured.”
“I’m playful, but also very professional.”
“I want to grow, but I’m scared of being seen.”
These tensions often lead to a deadlock or to a push to choose prematurely, artificially, before we’re truly ready. But some of the most powerful transformations happen when we stop forcing a resolution and start getting curious about the space between two truths. Between Structure and Flow, Intuition and Rationality, Visibility and Authenticity, just to name a few.
The heart of meaningful branding (and meaningful living) is precisely this ability to hold two opposing truths at the same time. As F. Scott Fitzgerald said:
"The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function."
That’s exactly the kind of balance we're learning to hold here. We’re not rushing, we’re not picking sides prematurely. We’re allowing for the inner truth to emerge.
Between Self and World
I’ve often said that I don’t believe in a strict separation between life and work. Our lives are the work. Who we are deeply shapes what we create and how we show up. And in turn, working on our business, is essentially working on ourselves.
We’re learning to build businesses differently. We’re learning to show up differently.
And collectively, we’re learning to shape society differently: more intentionally, with greater awareness, and hopefully with more care.
I see my work, and this publication, as part of a bigger shift. If we, as individuals and creators, can better navigate moments of uncertainty, we’ll begin building new ways of working that are not only successful but truly meaningful.
What to Expect
I think by now you can see this won’t be a how-to blog. But it is a space for thoughtful exploration and practical insight on what it means to build something true, from the inside out.
You can expect my honest, imperfect reflections on living in these tensions and insights on:
Navigating the tension between your current identity and your emerging one
Branding and building a business from intuition, clarity, and alignment
Personal insights on individuation, intuitive strategy, and gentle rebellion
Join me in the in-between
We have left behind the safe, linear version of success, and we woke up to ourselves. That deep inner knowing is our compass now. It’s our voice that tells us there’s no other way, really. That continuous quest for individuation, becoming who we’re meant to be in this life.
We can be companions in this quest, while also arriving at a destination uniquely ours.
If this feels like a path you’re on, subscribe, share, or simply reach out and let me know what space between you’re currently navigating. I’d love to hear.
